With ideas and a spirit of innovation, Werner Engel founded a company in 1932 for the production of desserts for large kitchens. In 1959, potato production was added, and very early on we expanded into foreign markets. In 2011, we achieved more than 50% of foreign sales for the first time. Today, around 160 employees work in development and production to enable you to focus on the essentials – making your products a bestseller.

Our products are made in Germany and produced on state-of-the-art facilities. We meet certified standards such as organic, halal, kosher and RSPO. In addition, we operate an integrated management system with the following certifications: Smeta and FSSC 22000. Only the best for you: engel!

Today we shape the future of our children, which is why CO2-friendly production with a high use of renewable energy is particularly important to us. Together with the city of Goch and Koehler Group, we built a biomass combined heat and power plant in 2012. Result: Our power plant generates electricity for many households in the city of Goch as well as 100% of the steam required for our process. We can also generate gas for drying ourselves from the treatment of our process water. Thus, we produce environmentally friendly, CO2 friendly. Because every step counts for the environment.

We live with and through our nature, which supplies our raw materials. It is our duty to maintain them for our children, and that is why we are committed to our region today. Whether in the form of flower strips on potato fields, or in the form of biotopes on our company premises: Nature is at the heart of our activities. We support initiatives such as the action group of forestry and forest youth «pollution police» to reforest the Reichswald with 2,200 beech seedlings.
